Local conditions matter
Soil fertility, water quality, habitat, fishing pressure, feeding, climate and management goals can change appropriate stocking rates.
Important: This calculator provides a starting estimate, not a prescription. Do not use it to restock an established pond without first understanding the existing fish population. Crappie, walleye, hybrid sunfish and other specialty species require more specific management decisions and are intentionally not included in the default balanced-pond plans.
